Jami Kukal

Coach Jami grew up in Gillette and moved to Sheridan for college, little did she know she would end up falling in love with Sheridan. She and her husband have been married for 8 years and have 4 kids. “I have a daughter that is a senior, a son that’s a sophomore and one that is a seventh grader and then we have a four year old son as well.” She have been in the banking industry since 2004 and has been with First Federal Bank & Trust for the last 15 years.

Volleyball Experience

• Volleyball has been a part of Coach Jami’s life for many years now.

• She has played in the Women’s Leagues that Sheridan offers since 2002.

“I love playing volleyball. Volleyball is my life and my passion. I will play any chance I can get.”

• Jami has no shortage of time in the gym. Her daughter, Ashlynn, played volleyball while growing up and her son, Cason, competes on our Boys volleyball team. Her son, Jaron, who is in seventh grade is planning to play this year as well.

• She has coaching experience under her belt as an assistant and has now ventured into the world of head coaching with her own team and is excited about the opportunity to coach alongside her daughter this season.

Why do I coach?

“I want the kids to have passion for volleyball. I want to be the coach that keeps them playing because they have fallen in love with the sport. I want to teach them good sportsmanship, positive attitude and just the basic skills to help them through their playing years!”

What do I look forward to teaching my team?

“I look forward to teaching my team how to keep that positive attitude even when you don’t want to. When you are losing or when you made a bad pass. Your attitude will determine how you finish out that game. Keep it positive!”

Why the philosophy of coaching "person first, athlete second" is important to me:

“This is important to me because we need to build up the person first. Give them confidence in themselves in whatever they may do. They need to believe in themselves before they can be an athlete. Being an athlete will fall in place once you have a solid foundation to build on.”

Other Tidbits

“I love being in the outdoors. Camping, hiking, fishing, paddle boarding. Doing it all!! And don’t be confused with my twin sister that lives in Sheridan too!”
