Breanna Becking
Coach Bre has lived in Sheridan her whole life with her parents and her older sister. She says “I love Sheridan and could not see myself growing up anywhere else.” Bre is a senior at Sheridan High School and her plan is to attend Sheridan College to start her major in Psychology. She is excited to step into the world of coaching this year as the assistant of our 14 Black team!
Volleyball Experience
• Coach Bre began playing volleyball when she was 10 years old, but says that it feels like she has been connected to volleyball much longer than that.
• She grew up watching volleyball, her older sister played volleyball in High School and continued into college which grew Bre’s love for the sport.
• In middle school, Coach Bre made the A team her 7th and 8th grade years.
• In High School, she was the setter for the JV team her Junior year and served her team as captain that year.
• Coach Bre tells us, “Playing volleyball was an important piece of my life and shaped who I am today. I have played all years of club since Blacktooth has been a club and it has changed the way I see volleyball.”
Why do I coach?
“As this is my first year coaching, I coach because I want to make an impact on players to where they love the sport. And I wanted to find a way to still be connected to volleyball and sharing the love for the sport I have with other individuals. Volleyball has always been a part of my life so having it still be a part of my life while watching it become an important part of other players lives is something that I enjoy seeing.”
What do I look forward to teaching my team?
“I look forward to teaching my team how to be good people on and off the court. Learning that you are not in control of the outcome. Putting forward your best effort and knowing that it is okay to mess up, but not to dwell on it, and better the ball.”
Why the philosophy of coaching "person first, athlete second" is important to me:
“The philosophy of coaching "person first, athlete second" is important to me because I know how important it is as an athlete to know that your coach is always by your side. So coaching with that mindset is crucial because you want to build your athletes up as a person and watch them accomplish great things!”
Other Tidbits
“Outside of playing volleyball. I enjoy going hiking in the mountains during the summer and exploring the outdoors in Sheridan. I also love spending time with my family!”
