Kendra Barney
As our GEAR AND EQUIPMENT FACILITATOR, Kendra oversees all purchasing of gear and club equipment for our athletes and coaches. She helps us organize and keep inventory, and is key when it comes to staying on schedule with meeting order dates. She also facilitates our BVC store so we can offer gear to our Blacktooth fam! This is her first year on the Board, but she is far from knew to the world of youth sports and club volleyball. We are so grateful to have her expertise on the board to help us with the many moving parts.
Get to know Kendra
“Hello! I am Kendra Barney. Here's a little bit about me. I wear many hats on a day to day basis but my most important is wife and mom. I fell in love with a Sheridan Co. boy in college and after MANY moves around the state of Wyoming chasing our careers, we landed back here in Sheridan 10 years ago.
I love my family more than anything and most evenings and weekends you can find me and my husband Reo in some sort of bleacher cheering on our kids. My son Avon is a Senior at BHHS and plays football and baseball. He will be playing D1 baseball in the fall of 2025 at South Dakota State University in Brookings.
My daughter Kenley is a Freshman and plays volleyball pretty much year round. She loves this game so much! I love watching her play volleyball and enjoy the game, camaraderie, and long lasting friendships made through this sport.
As a family, if we have spare time you can find us vacationing to Mexico, hunting, cruising in the Big Horns, paddle-boarding or playing a competitive game of cornhole.
I am the Early Childhood Coordinator and K-1 Literacy Coach for Sheridan Co. School District #1. This is my 8th year at SCSD #1. Before this position, I spent 8 years working in Early Childhood Special Education. I am a UW alumni and a born and raised Wyoming girl. I have lived all over the state in 6 different Wyoming towns.
In my tiny ounce of spare time, I let my creative graphic arts side out and I design fun Wyoming based clothing for the business I own, WyHOMEing Apparel. This business has been part of my life for over 10 years!
I love Mexican food and can literally eat it at every meal. I am coffee-holic and can drink it all day long. I am obsessed with shoes! Don’t ask how many pairs I own!”
What is something you enjoy about the club experience at Blacktooth?
“The best part about my experience in Blacktooth has been the family atmosphere of the club. It truly is one large extended family. We love that the coaching is stellar and the girls all really care for each other on and off the court, and on and off season. We show up for each other and will cheer for our BVC family no matter what!”
What you are looking forward to most for the upcoming season and serving on the BVC board?
“I believe whole hearted in the philosophy of this organization and every season is met with excitement to see our athletes in gyms, doing what they love. I am most looking forward to serving the board by making sure we look good, so we feel good, so we play good! Apparel is obviously a big part of my life and I love making items that the athletes and families of Blacktooth are proud to wear year round.”
Why is Blacktooth’s philosophy of "person first, athlete second" important to you?
“The best part about my experience in Blacktooth has been the focus on "person first". Knowing that the philosophy of the program is focused first on the well being of each participant is the best thing about the program. Winning is fun, competition is great, but knowing the coaches and director truly puts the well being of each athlete first is so important. The goal is to grow athletes who have a strong sense of self confidence, strong mental health, and strong relationships.”
Other Tidbits
“My hobbies are centered around my kids but I do love being by the water. Mostly being on a beach somewhere! I love to travel and Mexico is our favorite vacation spot. A fun fact: I was a foreign exchange student to Germany and used to be fluent in German. I love history and true crime podcasts”
