Shauna Winterland

As a FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE member, Shauna helps us with raffles, sponsorships and all things fundraising. This is such a big part of the season and Blacktooth experience because it truly makes it possible to do what we do at the low cost we do it at. Shauna gets things done and is connected to just about everybody in the community, being the passionate and caring people person that she is. We know we can count on Shauna and we are so grateful to have her on the board.

Get to know Shauna

“I am a wife and mother to two beautiful girls, Maci (14) and Kady (11). They are the light of my life. I am a massage therapist for now 28 years. I work for myself so my schedule is super flexible to run after these active kiddos of ours. I love that I can be available for pretty much anything they have going on. I’m grateful for my friends/clients that make it easy for me to do so. My day to day is work/play and Sports.. That is my pure JOY..”

What is something you enjoy about the club experience at Blacktooth?

“I have been involved in club volleyball since Maci was 8 in some fashion. I coached at a different club before coming to Blacktooth. We have been with Blacktooth going on the third year. I LOVE that this club stands for building good humans first and the athlete second. Because, after all, isn’t that what we all want as parents, GOOD HUMANS.. I love the community of like minded people that are involved in the day to day and at the board level. I love that I get to build better relationships with people I know and people that I just met. We could not have had a better experience with BVC and its directors. GO BLACKTOOTH.”

What you are looking forward to most for the upcoming season and serving on the BVC board?

“This upcoming season is going to be awesome We have a fun board. We all have a good time and can’t wait to make this the best season yet.. I am excited to be a part of the greater good and help out where I am needed.”

Why is Blacktooth’s philosophy of "person first, athlete second" important to you?

“For me, this is so important. Back in my day, (some time ago) sports were used to build self respect and discipline, how to be a good teammate, instill confidence and a drive to be and do better. Then came along the “everyone gets a trophy” theory, and that old philosophy got replaced. In today’s world, it is hard to find ways to bring that back the days of old. Team Sports can do that.

I feel like if we can set the foundation of Good Human first, the athlete falls right into place to be the best athlete they can be. We, as parents and coaches, have to be role models to help these athletes be successful in the world, and this is where it can start..”

Other Tidbits

“I’m loud and passionate.. I love all things sports, (except golf, I’m not good at golf🙂). I Love the outdoors and the mountains. I love yoga and working out, (making time for that is a challenge). I love getting to spend time with all the kids and parents. I’m excited to have some fun.”
